DPx Folder or 0550: Which do you prefer for EDC/ A heavy-duty folder

I've had both - I prefer the ZT. The DPx is a nice EDC size and has great handle comfort for me (so does the ZT though) but the ZT is just a better built knife IMHO and S35VN is a better blade steel choice for EDC IMHO. Another thing that I prefer about the ZT is the blade stock thickness versus the DPx. Of course this is arguable but on the DPx, I think a .25 inch blade thickness on such a short blade is overkill and takes away from the slicing ability. One could argue the Hest/F was not designed to be a slicer but then I'd ask why the blade is FFG then. Probably because the blade stock is so thick and the primary grind needed to be FFG to get the edge down to a decent edge angle. This isn't really a complaint as much as an oddity to me. But I like how the Hest/F looks and how she carries a lot.

I've owned a couple 0551's and a current 0550. I have a yellow RH scale on my 0550 and I think it rocks! :D

I sold the DPx.

I like the 550 better, it feels better in my hand than probably any folding knife I have held! The trade off is it's more bulky to carry. I also think the zt is a bit better in fit and finish. I had to loc tite the rotolock on my dpx after it fell off 2 days after I got it and the g10 scale was very visibly misaligned, not evenly machined with the liner and not able to be corrected.

The dpx blade also had rust spots over the coating after I carried it iwb on a hot day, so consider that the blade isn't stainless when you look at that one.

The hest I owned was a 2.0 btw.

ZT 550, DPx Hest folder is still a great knife but I would personally wait a little bit longer into they fix all the multiple problems that the knife has. If you want to spend a extra $60 dollars or so you can get the ZT 560 which has elmax steel, flipper, and 3D g10 handles.

I see. I was going to get the 0560, so this would be separate. :P It seemed like a more sturdy Emerson, and I assumed the DPx could be waved.
