I do not mean any offense to anyone by the comments below, but you asked so ...

I think it is an interesting knife and line of knives, I put it in the category of Emerson (of which I carry one frequently have too darned many of ) and Strider - which I own zero of. It is, IMHO and perhaps uneducated opinion, of that ilk.

I was interested enough to approach their booth at a show, perhaps SHOT or something but I forget, and the 90 second interaction caused me to move on and never look at their knives again. Judgmental? Perhaps. One off? Perhaps. But I already have enough SHTF folders that don't cut so well and waaaaay too many knives that cut well, are tough as nails and make me happy to own.

To your technically based point, they seem OK enough but honestly, (please don't flame me) once I held a Cold Steel AD-10, I knew I was done. I'm not saying I don't rock the Recon 1 frequently or the Voyager or the other Voyager, or the 4-Max, or the 4-max Scout (for which I just ordered a back-up) but the sizzle compared to the steak doesn't excite me like it used to - at least not enough to pay extra for.

All that being said, it seems like a decent knife and one that I would otherwise be tempted to own, but I stick by my comments above.

Well that just about matches my opinion lol. I was hoping to hear something better. To be honest I've been wanting to buy an AD 10 for the longest time. I think Taiwan makes great knives I just wish the darn things made in the USA.

Heck. Might buy one now that you brought it up.

The AD10 is a very nice knife. I'm glad I snagged a hollow ground model, it's seriously an amazing slicer but very tough as well!

My 4max Scout is on another level of overbuilt though, definitely worth the 83 dollars I paid!

I have too many folders and, to varying degrees, I like them all but the AD-10 is the shitznitz!

I've always looked at the HEST with curious eyes. I don't have any experience with Lionsteel's stuff. When I played with a few at a store they seemed nice enough. I priced out the 3.0 just a couple weeks ago and decided Niolox sounds like a steel I would like and I'm always a sucker for a breaker. Especially on a well made frame lock.

The only pause I have is the pokey nub at the end of the handle. I doubt there's gonna be enough length there for it to clear my grip. I don't understand this bit of handle design philosophy in knives in general. It drives me crazy. Reason I'm not on the AD10 train, though it's probably a long enough handle not to be a problem.

niolox - good choice for toughness & decent edge retention
I have to be honest, I really dislike the bottle opener cutout in the spine...
and their idea of grippy jimping looks like a joke (I'm sorry, I've not held it, but just looking at it - that is my expectation)

I'm not sure how people can look past those 2 glaring deficits

Supposedly the jimping is wire strippers. I appreciate the effort, but if you've got a knife you've got something to strip a wire with.

it seems like after choosing a tough steel like niolox, they had to go and wreck it with stress risers around the whole blade :(
