Looking for any input on DpX hest folders...anyone that has one, how's the blade, lockup, quality, customer service, heat treatment? They aren't exactly cheap, are they worth the money?

I've been carrying one for about a month and I love it. When opening with the thumb stud it is a little tight but I haven't wanted to loosen it because it deploys so well with the bottle opener out of my pocket. The blade came sharp and it has stayed sharp with moderate to heavy use. The lockup is good but the roto lock does slip down often. It is a little on the pricey side but the look and feel of it makes me want to beat the hell out of it. Definitely not a safe queen style knife. I highly recommend it.

I had one for a bit and have only positive things to say. Mine was the 2.0 with coated D2 blade and OD Green G10 handle.

It felt very robust in the hand. The design is good, with a useful blade shape and fairly nice ergos. The action is smooth. I've seen some videos where dudes can flick 'em open. I could never do that, but it had that smooth hydraulic feel you've read about.

I like that it comes with the little skull tool to adjust it. In my opinion, Lionsteel did a good job with this knife. They pop up every now and then on the exchange. I'd say to keep your eyes open and you might save some cash.

Thanks for the input guys. Didn't know it was a lionsteel collaboration!

Yeah, the folks at DPx Gear contracted Lionsteel to make this folder.

This thread kinda makes me want to get another one.

Say what you will about RYP, but it's a good knife. I had the smaller version, which I liked but was a little two chunky for me.

They are very robust, if that is your thing. If they made a lightweight version is own one.

I really like mine, I own a 2.0 and its flawless, Lionsteel did a great job on them. I also owned a hest/f millspec and that was solid too, adjusted clip design and rotoblock were the main changes between that and the normal 2.0. Mine falls closed under its own weight with no blade play after a cleaning and application of nano oil. Definitely recommended.

I have the DPX HEFT 4 fixed blade with Niolox steel. And as for that, the fit and finish is superb. Steel is great. Batonned 5 small logs for kindling and the edge is still hair shaving sharp

I have a DPx HEST/F 2.0 Triple Black and its a beast of a knife. Feels like a tank in hand and has a very solid lock up and deployment. They're a great chunky knife that's very pocket friendly considering the overbuilt nature. Two criticisms I have: I'm not crazy about the Rotolock. Sometimes it engages when you don't want it to. I'm not in favor of most secondary safety locks, but if you have to have one, none are executed as well as RealSteel. Also I think the fit and finish on the knife is lagging behind the price tag. It's a $200 knife with a $100 knife construction quality. But, hey, they made it to use, not sit pretty in a safe somewhere.

I am not a fan of the rotolock on the HEST...
If DPX make the HEST URBAN a regular production, I may go for it...
An HESt URban Shred (CF, BW sleipner) will be my take :)

I got the OD green version a few years back and it's a solid knife. The lockup is good and the D2 steel keeps a good edge. I would recommend it especially if you can find a lightly used one for sale. I've seen some for great prices in the past. DPx customer service is top notch.

I have had a few 2.0’S different versions and all have been great. Never had lock issues even after years. The Ti wore great even after heavy use it doesn’t move much. Wasn’t a fan of the urban not very strong blade if that’s what your looking for. Good small simple edc knife though but not for me I’ll stick with the 2.0
