I am going to purchase a lefty Dpx but I am torn between the Heat or Hest. I originally wanted the heat because of the sub 3 inch blade for work. It is also a tad cheaper. However, the Hest has grown on me. I also have enough sub 3 inch blades for work. So I am leaning towards the Hest.

Does anyone have any input on either of these blades? Any help would be appreciated. This will be my last blade purchase for a while.

For me, the HEAT was all wrong.
Blade too thick, handle and blade both too short.
YMMV, but I much preferred the HEST.

I have both and each is great. I tend to carry the heat most, I have the Limited Edition all Titanium. I actually like the size of the blade and handle, it's a great little EDC for cutting open boxes etc... I'm in the printing business and do a lot of that! The HEST is perfect for having handy when out on an adventure, I took and use it when I traveled to Peru this year. You can't go wrong with either IMO.

Wrong comparison. These are different knives. Similarities aside (and there are many), the size difference alone puts them into different categories. Want a big tough knife? Buy a HEST. For a little tough knife, the HEAT's a handful. I've had a HEAT in my pocket (Haha LOL... sounds funny !!!) - almost every day for more than six months. Triple Black, Niolox... Seriously. It's a tough robust little knife. Easy enough to break down if you need to. Lock-up is solid and stays that way, no play. The knife came to me very sharp out of the box with a very asymmetrical grind. I taught myself how to freehand sharpen with this knife. (I had some small skills to begin with)... Seriously, (to me) It's now perfect, and balanced, convex nice !!! and I keep it super sharp. I'd buy it again if I needed to but it won't be wearing out anytime soon. I have some larger knives with finer blades but it's horses for courses. Never owned the HEST. Of the two it's large or small. Pick your size.

[quick follow-up fwiw] - This knife has been pretty good to me, so even though the thread isn't fresh... I put out what I thought worth saying. Haven't yet had the opportunity to use the glass breaker (probably a good thing), but the bottle cap opener has come in handy on a number of occasions. :) No regrets.
