Is it the folder that she got you? If so I have a couple of them. I really like them, they have had some issues with the lock slipping, dpx has a lifetime warranty though so they will take care of you.

take it easy

I own a hest first production model. and it dose have some up and down blade play out of the box for me. but the knife is also a safe queen so it will probably never get used at all. but if you have the production like dave said they have a lifetime warranty to cover any problems.

i still don't know whats the difference between the regular and the 2.0!
Mine's this one and has no issues whatsoever

Is this the 2.0?

johnny numbers where did you place your pre-order on the hest 2.0?

Knife center.

Pull it up and do a search under "DPx HEST." you can pre-order either a left or right hand model.

From what I read in a post over in the Lionsteel forum, the knives are/should be...in the USA right now. That was as of the first week of August. It would be nice if we could actually get them before 2012.

EDIT...

This isn't good...

It would've been nice if they had sent me an email informing me of this.

So they are discontinued!?

It wouldn't make any sense to keep selling a version 1.0 of they have a 2.0 out would it? Hopefully the 2.0 will have incorporated fixes to design issues that plagued the original model.

I recently picked up a version 1.0 with absolutely not issues. It sharpening was a breeze, it took a super wicked edge. Very easy to take apart and put back together.
I absolutely love this blade! I'm going to pick up a version 2.0 as well.

From what i've gathered the differences are slight but derived from buyer / user input.
The 2.0 has the following improvements
(I'll point out the ones i know about / can remember)

-No more steel liner on the g10 side
-A cut out on the g10 to better access the lock
-No more Lanyard holes on the clip (to make it stiffer)
-Different geometry on the tang and lockbar
-The thumbstud is set approx 1.5 mm back for better / easier opening.
-The Pivot hole on the blade is also further back (slightly less tang)
Again, for less stress on the lock when in open position

There may be a few more improvements but i cant recall off the top of my head. This was paraphrasing from the Lion Steel rep. It's in a post here on BF... I'll try to look it up and post a link later.

Oh and if you see "discontinued" on Knife sites, from what i've gathered most are still
going to carry the DPx HEST line but not the 1.0 so they mark it as Discontinued. 2.0
is going to carry a completely different stock number.

Congrats on your new blade! Mine has really grown on me in just the last few days ive had it. I had a chance to compare it to a Strider SMG today. Very similar in size and
build.

Thanks for all the info! Ill be ordering the 2.0 as well, even though I have no issues with my 1.0. It never hurts to have more knifes! :D

This is the knife that had severe problems like the blade sticking out when closed, or cutting people through the back. The design isn't that great, and the creator is kind of a jerk. Honestly, I think you could do a lot better for the money. The ZT 0551, for instance.

I ordered my HEST 2.0 last Sunday and received it today from Blade HQ. Great service. Great knife.
