I have been very impressed with ESEE since I first discovered them. When the DPX line was launched I wasn't too sure how to take it. I liked it, I thought to myself "that's bad a$$". I just wasn't sure where it fit in with ESEE. From a business stand point I thought it made perfect sense. This RYP guy wants things done right so he teamed up with ESEE. ESEE probably wants to expand their market so they are getting things started with DPX. Is that the case? I don't know, probably not. But that was my thinking at first. Well, now I get it. Now I see the relationship between the two. They both have the exact same philosophy when it comes to quality, warranty, service, and even application of their product. The only deference I see are the environments they are used in. If I'm stuck in the boonies and it's down to the nitty gritty. I want something I can whittle, cut, chop, slice and survive with. If I'm caught in an urban setting when the $h!t hit's the fan. I want something I can cut, stab, slice, pry, beat, bang and survive with. The bottom line is: I need something I can depend on. Something that works all the time, every time, for a long time. I trust the gear from ESEE/DPX to do that. Thanks guys for all the hard work you put into your products and service. It really pays off.

Just my $0 .02

RYP and Jeff are two peas in a pod, I think the joint venture was pretty much inevitable. I'm glad it happened though... and I really want to see this partnership grow. The HEST does make for a great urban survival knife, but I don't see why people write it off as ONLY an urban survival knife. This thing is an EVERYTHING knife-from EDC and urban survival to bushcraft and wilderness survival-its design is ideal for everything.

I couldn't agree with you more PayetteRucker. I think this partnership is already growing and will continue to see growth in the coming years. I also agree that the HEST is a do it all tool that will perform outstandingly in any environment or task. Be it urban or wilderness. I wasn't writing it off as just an urban survival knife. Honestly I think it would make the perfect army pilot knife! But that's beside the subject. I'm not saying that the knives from ESEE are just wilderness knives either. They will also serve well in an urban setting. But, it's the details of the HEST and ESEE knives that show they have been tailored to one environments application more so than the other. Not to say that either is better. I just feel like I can look at each one and see what the designed had in mind to use that particular knife for when he made it. I can't wait to see what view come us with next.

I carry my HEST in and out of the woods and urban enviorments! It is my go to blade for sure and EDC:thumbup:

DPx Gear's motto was going to be "I See Dead People" but it wasn't a snappy as "When Survival Is Your Life"
