I have a fairly new DPX HEST/F Urban that's extremely stiff to flip open. I've been working on breaking it in, but are there any other helpful hints to move the process along? Getting a sore thumb.

Also, first post, excited to join the community.

Welcome to the whirlpool of knife collecting. My DPX was stiff too...i remedied that by selling it. Haha. But ya, try working it in for a bit, or just barely loosening the pivot. Good luck!

Welcome!

Be sure that your fingers are not resting on the lock bar when you're opening as it takes very little pressure from this to make opening frame locks difficult.

Adding a lubricant to the pivot may help. Other that, keep on working it.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I don't believe it's the pivot that is tight, loosening it doesn't help. It seems like the detent that holds it closed is very tight. That being said, what kind of oil is best for knives? Thanks again!

If you know how to properly give the lockbar a little relief...you could try that.

Actually, I think this is the issue. When I open it, I push my pointer finger right against the frame lock, which I'm sure makes it much more difficult to open. Now I just have to figure out how to not do that, I'm not exactly sure where else to put my finger. Thanks!

You're welcome!

Perhaps the pocket clip offers some comfy real estate or place your finger closer the stop pin or pivot.

I've had a few different frame locks but the only one that i recall which I couldn't find the sweet spot to prevent this was my brothers ZT550. It does all depend on the knife, hand size and person. I include person here because my brother and I are twins and our hands are essentially the same size but he didn't really have issues with it while I did. Oh wells, not my knife.
