Um, cool. Those look neat. What's the point of this thread though, just curious? Didn't see much in there that was asking for input.

I went to his site and enjoyed looking

Thx

Me too, I really like this sword, and would not mind trying it out, but I have to admit that I'm not really in the market for any swords right now.:grumpy:

Best Regards,

You don't, I was just wondering what the point was.
My only point was sharing a picture of a sword I just
received from a maker that for some reason you never hear about on the forums. You certainly never see anything about him and Japanese swords.I thought somebody might have been interested in seeing something different than another picture of a production sword.I know its not the first show and tell thread I've read but if its input I'm missing, here's sum: question. How many machine gun barrels will i be able to cut thru?

Isn't that wrapped for a lefty

Not necessarily....I'm right handed and prefer the menuki set up this way, they act as palmswells. This is the traditional wrap setup for tachi.

Maybe one, if you are lucky and the machine gun barrel is made of zinc...good luck with the repair to the edge damage:D

Great get on this, thanks for posting.

If you are cutter, I would REALLY be interested in your feedback as to how the sword holds up, specifically, if you experienced any bending, the bane of cutters everywhere!

Best Regards,

Awesome. Wasn't sure if that was yours or just something cool you saw. Nice blade, looks like a good deal.

Thank you! I actually wasn't really in the market for a sword but when I saw this and who made it and the price that he had on this particular sword, I thought it a rare opportunity.

I had never heard of the guy until recently. I was reading over in knifemaker's discussion thread about essential books for bladesmiths and his book came up as one of the top available. The Complete Bladesmith.

Nice grab on your sword.

I think that it's always a good thing to share new work by both new and old makers. As for Dr. Hrisoulas I suspect that it's a blend of various reasons that keep him from getting a lot of press. First, he doesn't really seem to participate in online fora, no big deal many don't. Second, he's been doing this for years and years so he's not normally going to get any press as "the next big thing." Third his buyers don't seem to trumpet his work much, I'm not sure why that is (hey look you are doing it here!). Finally, in terms of Western swords at least he has sort of let the market pass him by. He seems to be content to sell at various renaissance faires in the West and to continue to basically sell the same products he sold a decade ago, ignoring updated information and new research. Again, if he's happy there's nothing wrong with that, but he's no longer the go to guy if one is looking for the best researched and built western swords.

I see what your saying.I also suspect he may be deeply involved in his work and his research in his new book which is one reason these Japanese inspired blades were made.He has also had to deal with a variety of problems and tragic events which over the years took his focus and attentions.I guess I shouldn't complain about how popular he is on the forums.Because he is so low key, I was able to be lucky enough to purchase his work without a long wait or at a high cost. Dr. Hrisoulas also is a heck of a great guy to speak and correspond with.

I think you have a very nice sword there at a very nice price

It also happens to be a good length for me and I like Shobu Zukuri style blades :)

Congrats again
