I haven't been posting as much lately, especially knives...been pretty busy but, this one deserved posting for the sheath Tess did more than anything else.

The blade is 4 1/2" of 300 layer San Mai damascus (1084/15N20). The handle hardware is nickle-silver with a throat of Cocobola wood and a body of Elk, stabilized with Nelsonite. The leather pouch sheath Tess did for this one depicts a Celtic Dragon that wraps atound the sheath. I liked it. :)

Jay thats one nice knife, I like that damascus, Tess one of these days I'm gonna quit the leather and send my stuff to you, nice work.

Super work J. BTW, please let Tess know I received the two knives and sheaths all in good order Saturday. Thank her again for me.

Beautiful work both of you! Tess that sheath is wonderful. The carving and texturing you do is really top notch.

J. Frankly, I'm dissapointed. The knife is very ugly and I doubt you'll be able to unload it. I mean yeah the lines flow gracefully (if you like that sort of thing), the fit and finish is great ( again if thats what you're into)......The combinations of materiels works, but seriously do you really want something like that out in public? I think you should send it over here right away so I can hide it properly :D

Seriously, I really like the way it flows and especially the section of the blade just in front of the guard. Looks like it would work really well if you needed to choke up on it for fine work. Nice touch.

Nice as usual. I hope when I finally start getting fancy with my sheaths they are half as good as hers.

J and Tess, that's just beautiful. As usual I'm a little late to say anything original, so thanks for sharing. Being "busy" seems to be paying off nicely. :D

....in a couple more years the ad will read......

"Get your hand-tooled sheath made to order by leathersmith Tess Neilson!
Also included is a custom knife....handmade to fit your sheath....by Tess's husband J.!!!!"

Nice work all around!

Thanks guys. This one was made for a customer, kind of a remake of a knife I did a year or so ago. I'm gonna try to start posting more again.

The next one I put up won't be nearly as nice. I made another knife for myself, beater/trial knife. I call it my "ugly stick"....no wise cracks George. ;)

you did it again J. Great blade, beautiful handle and I really don't normally like that much wood up front but you have a knack for making it look like it belongs. The sheath is super and the whole package is first class.

I love it!

very nice on both pieces!! I need to drive to the "holler" to get a lesson on knifemaking and sheathmaking. :)

Nice J.

Why did you call this your tracker? I have a very similar shaped blade that I called my tracker....why I'm not sure. Just thought it was a coiky dink :D

Two thumbs up to both of you - but especially Tess :D
Hey I'm prejudiced....this is definitely a case of
"The beautiful sheaths created for storing the knife elevate the knife one step higher. It celebrates the knife it houses."

Thanks again guys.

Michael, you'd be welcome anytime. You'll just have to teach me a few things as well, while your here.

Blgoode-believe me, I wasn't stealing anything from you. Naming knives is tough enough. There's also that knife from "The Hunted" movie that's called a tracker. I was making this model and using the name before the movie but, I let it go. ;)

HEHEHE!!! Who Me?????? The whole tree fell on you. :p :D :D

HEy J.

If you ever stole a design from me I'd be honored :D I was watching the Hunted about the same time I made my tracker....then I nickmaned it my Nemusk (sp.?)

I'd like to watch you work on your fittings. Very well done!

Thanks for the invite J. I've had a chunk of leather "casing" in the fridge for about a week. Looking at that sheath makes me want to get it out and start practicing some more carving.

Excellent work folks :)

Tess...top notch. It looks very solid and very cleanly executed.

J. I'm glad to see you thinned this handle up into the guard and also knocked down the spine side of the guard. Personally, I think this is a big step forward for you. It looks cleaner, more crisp, and takes away just tiny bits of unneccessary weight.

Looking really good!
Nick
