Dragonfly 2 blade swap

Say I wanted to take the zdp-189 blade from the green dragonfly and replace it with the vg-10 one in the G10 version of the dragonfly.

Would that be possible? I'm pretty sure they're aren't any liners or anything on the frn version, but then I'm not sure how the G10 differs, except for the the g10 and steel liners.

Point is I want to have a dragonfly with custom G10 scales and a super zdp-189 blade! (I prefer smaller blades for carry) That would be pretty awesome IMO.

Thanks guys! :D

Also, is the zdp on the dragonfly laminated like the Caly 3 version? Or are all spyderco's knives with zdp laminated?

Give it a try. But if you fubar it up and want to send it for repair, be prepared for a charge. The ZDP steel is not laminated, it's a solid chunk of ZDP steel. If it were laminated you would see a line down the side of the blade. Only he Caly3 was laminated from what I recall. I could be wrong, it's happened before. :D

Seems like that's the only way to find out haha. Good thing they're screw construction. I should probably get the knives first though.. And yea I figured, but wasn't sure.

Thanks RevDevil!

Make sure that you put a towel down before you start. This will keep the screws from flying around. :)

This is interesting! I have the G10/VG-10 version and would love a ZDP-blade on it!

Don't take to long or else I might have to try it myself :)

The journey has begun, I've purchased the ZDP Dragonfly, so I'm bound to have it in the next few days. Now to find a G10 version at a decent price!..

Any update on this? I recently purchased a G-10 dragonfly to complement my ZDP-189, and was contemplating a blade swap myself. :)

It's definitely possible, I just never got around to buying a G10 one or any knife in quite awhile (college budget). I read the only tricky part is the lockbar, there was a thread somewhere on the spyderco forums that someone showed me. Good luck if you do it though! Not that you need it haha.
