I need help deciding between these two knives which are very different from each other, but are knives that have really grabbed my attention!
My wife wants me to pick out a knife for my birthday, (I have an amazing wife!) and I have been wanting one that is a little different from the normal choices from Spyderco such as the Delics, Endura, Tenacious, etc. though they are all great knives!:)
Both the Dragonfly 2 and the Centofante 3 are unique knives that have features that others don't.
I will be using this knife as an EDC and not an extreme use knife. Already have that covered.
I want to hear from owners who have one of them, or even better who own both of them to give me suggestions which one I should get.
If you happen to have both and would be able to post a picture of them together or included with other knives that would be awesome!:D
Before you go an say: "Get both of them!" know that I can only get one with times being tight as they are.
I am a big fan of VG 10 which both knives have. I love how the Dragonfly 2 can just disappear in your pocket, yet still get same major cutting chores done, and I love how the Centofante 3 is an amazing slicer with the 2mm blade.
These knives are so different that I am having a hard time choosing which one I would rather have.
The good thing is that no matter which one I get, I can't lose! Got to love Syderco!:D:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

I would vote the Cento 3. Great slicer, and much better blade length than the Dragonfly 2. I felt "underknifed" when carrying the Dragonfly, but not when carrying the Centofante.

Both are fine choices, OP...

In almost every Centofante 3 or Foo, I'm going to go with the C3. It's an awesome, underrated knife. Decent size, light and slender, great blade and cutting performance, looks that are good enough for dressy use even though it's a FRN handle.

I love my Dragonfly 2, I swapped blades on mine with the ZDP-189 variant. I love the thin FFG blade and it's light weight. I definitely don't feel under knifed with it for EDC tasks.

The Centofante 3 is larger, as you know, and more of a "real" knife. But it really does not feel any bigger in the pocket, as both will disappear. The C3 is easier to open with one hand as well. So it gets my vote. I like the Dragonfly, and while its a great knife its just a little too small and a little too difficult to open with one hand (for me).

What's wrong with the Delica?

The Cento has pins/rivets instead of screws which I will never be happy with, so it's not even an option for me.

Delica is the single best value EDC out there IMHO, and the VG10 is fantastic for everyday light/medium use.

Thanks for sharing! I hear you and the Dragonfly is very small, I just love how it fits in the hand!

Great pics! Really shows both knives unique character! Sure wish the Centofante 3 had some sort of finger choil and there would no longer be a question as to which one to get! I like how you turned the clip for tip up carry! I will do the same if I get it.
Thanks timberweasel!

Man, you are not making this any easier to choose with those awesome photos of the Dragonflay 2 in G10!
I would be getting the FRN handles though. Sure wish in was offered in different colors like the Delica and Endura!

Thanks for the review! I was thinking the Centofante 3 had a single steel liner, but guess not. Not sure if I dreamed that or read that somewhere. O well, shouldn't be a problem. Thanks again!

Obviously nothing is wrong with the Delica as it is one of Spyderco's hottest sellers! Awesome knife, but I already have the byrd Meadowlark 2. I know, I know you are going to say they are very different, but size wise they are almost the same, and I actually prefer the finger choil on the Meadowlark 2. (Don't tell anyone!)
Yes, I too would rather have screwed construction as opposed to riveted, but I really love my Native FRN which is pinned construction, and there isn't even a tiny amount of blade play. Spyderco really knows how to do it right the first time!

My Centofante 3 definitely has a steel liner on the side where the clip screws on.

Good to know! I was thinking if there wasn't a liner that was going to be the reason to choose the Dragonfly 2. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks scrub! Nice pic, I have the same Streamlight which makes it a good comparison for seeing the size of the Centofante 3.
Unless I hear some really strong reasons why I should pick the Dragonfly 2, I am leaning pretty heavy toward the Centofante 3.

Happy to help. I like to recommend the Centofante 3 to folks who want an alternative to the Delica 4--both fantastic folders for EDC. I think the Delica is a little more robust with dual steel liners and screw-construction (the C3 has a single nested liner and is pinned together) but the Centofante 3 is plenty strong, is a great slicer, and sports one of the sexiest blade-shapes in all of Spyderdom (imo).

If you work in an office and wear slacks, the Dragonfly 2 is the better choice, Wire clip, non-threatening, forward choil if you need to choke up...
For an EDC where you wear jeans, the larger size of the Centofante would be better. Simply because you have more steel to work with.

Happy Birthday (Whenever it is!)

Both are fine knives, but a bit different from one another. I like the Dragonfly for what it's worth. IMHO it's a nifty folder for the modern minimalist, but not quite large enough for a main or general use EDC blade. I love the blade profile of the Centefonte 3, but couldn't ever warm up to the handle. I'd much prefer some FRN with Spyderco's cool Bi-directional texture or possibly G-10.
