Which serrated dragonfly should I get? I like the FFG done with the VG10, and the black scales. I also really like the rust resistance and toughness of serrated h1. How good is the vg10 serrated? It's only a few bucks cheaper than the H1 version.

In my experience - VG10 is a better blade steel, from an edge performance standpoint (gets sharper, easier, and holds the edge nicely). But H1 is more weather/salt resistant. If you are in a rainforest or on the waterfront - get H1. If you are elsewhere, get VG10. With that said, H1 serrated does perform better than H1 plain... if you are set on getting the serrated versions, the H1 might be a good way to go regardless. Personally, I don't like serrated blades - so my choice would be VG10 (plain edge)

I can't speak for the h1, but I have the dragonfly in vg10 and love it. Very solid lock and the blade takes a very nice edge. In my experience, the vg10 is not the best at holding that edge for very long but it easy to sharpen to make up for it.

My Delica4 w/ SpyderEdge (VG10) performs very well. I didn't have much experience with my Salt 1 w/ SpyderEdge (H1) before trading it, but I've read a lot of good things about serrated H1. Sal posted the following on the Spyderco forums a while back:

CATRA testing on abrasion resistance puts the plain edge in the AUS-8 range. The serrated H1, such as the Jumpmaster, in CATRA tests, have shown to be exceptional with better performance than plain or serrated steels of any that we've tested. Field tests have shown this to be true as well.

The post is dated from September 2010. So at least as of then, it seems the serrated H1 outperformed any other steels Spyderco had put through CATRA testing at that time.

Pretty much what Liam said. I have a Pacific Salt in H1 and it's been my go to knife these past 2 weekends since I've been at the beach or the lake. Mine is plain edge though, but I have no complaints on edge retention.

As long as your willing to buy a Sharpmaker kit to maintain that serrated edge, either will do fine. SE's exceed at 'working' past the point where you would have dulled a plain-edge. Thus, folks tend to let SE's go too long w/o a sharpening, IMHO. I've only had one H1 knife in PE, and it would reach and hold a razor's edge. But, I couldn't find anyone to mod it to my taste, as the 're-grind' guys had stopped or were too backed up. It's all-that when it come's to corrosion resistance. I exposed it to meat bloods while cutting things up, citric acids from lemon-line, salt, etc. Nothing phases it.

Since it's serrated, go H1 for sure.

The small difference in edge retention won't matter with serrations.
