Does anyone have any suggestions on how to remove the lanyard tube from the scale without hurting the lanyard tube or scale at all. Upon taking my G10 Dragonfly apart to put on new scales, I found out that the tube seems to flare ever so slightly on each end so that that it remains snug when the knife is fully assembled. I was able to get one scale and all the hardware in between off by pulling the liners in opposite directions, but the tube will not slide through the scale from either side.

What ever you do - RESIST THE URGE to grab the lanyard tube with a pair of pliers or vise grips. It will deform and scratch the tube and I guarantee that it won't make you a happy camper.

This is a challenge with the Para 2 as well. I resolved it by using a piece of wood and my drill press/arbor press. Lay the scale out on the drill press table and then place a piece of scrap wood on the tube and use the drill press head like a pin punch. You can also do this with an arbor press (which is my preferred way). This gets the tube all the way down into the hole in the scale but probably won't push it through. To get it all the way out, find a piece of wooden dowel that you can trim down to be the same size as tube's outside diameter (and the size of the scale hole's diameter). You can then use the dowel and some gentle persuasion to push the tube through the hole.

You can use the same technique in reverse to seat the lanyard tube in the new scales.

Good luck!

Thank you for the suggestion, sir. However, I unfortunately do not own any sort of press at this juncture in my life. One of the biggest downsides of apartment dwelling is not having any space for any real tools.
