Dragonfly false top edge

Hi:

I just bought a new Dragonfly (FRN, spyder edge). I’m wondering about the purpose of the top of the blade having a “false” sharp edge. Is this a “swedge”? Is it to lighten the blade & improve balance? . I checked the Spyderco Web site & the Dragonfly description doesn’t appear to mention this. But, I bet many of you know exactly why this was done to the blade.

Thanks,

Steve

Yes it is a swedge. In addition to the things you mentioned, it also reduces drag on deep cuts. ;)
