Dragonfly / Ladybug / Manbug Super Blue - Questions

Hi SpyderFans.
Just had a quick question about the latest Super Blue sprints...
I notice as I shop around, some are listed as SuperBlue / 420J1, and some are listed as simply SuperBlue.
Even on the blade, some say the former, some say the latter.

Did Spyderco do a sprint run of each? Laminated (a la the SB Stretch) and non-laminated (a la the Caly3.5)?

Are some of these dealers just photoshopping the pics?
Why am I seeing the Manbug, for example, in both laminated?

And non-laminated?

Any ideas?

Just curious.

Thanks guys!

Are some sites using, like, I dunno, "promotional" pics of this line of knives, because I find that a little misleading, especially when there IS a huge difference in the laminated Vs non-laminated versions.

The more I look around, it seems site that tend to use "promo" pics are the ones that (mis)label them as "SuperBlue" and the sites that tend to use actual pics of the actual knife are the ones that have the combo-steel labeled on the blade.

I guess I'm kinda answering my original question here, but why do some dealers do this?? Seems disingenuous to me :(

From what I've seen, the only non-laminated super blue knife is the calys. All the rest are laminated regardless of stock pics .

Well if the Caly 3.5 in pure SB never existed, I could say, "oh, ok, stock photos, I get it"
But since, in the past Spyderco has produced a knife that is purely SB, I don't think it's such a great idea to advertise these sprints as being pure SB when they are not.

Who is responsible here? The individual websites using misleading stock photos, or Spyderco for providing stock photos that don't accurately represent the product being sold?

just curious who to brandish my fist at :P

The Caly's are made in Moki where they prefer to produce solid super blue blades. The FRN super blues are made in Seki where they produce laminated blades. The photos are probably just copy pasted with a quick edit in Photoshop as a place holder until the final product can be listed.

Yeah that what I'm starting to see...
I did not know the blade make up was so up to the whim of whichever factory(?) it came from.

I'm happy either way, my SB Stretch is one of my favorite knives. My LORD that thing is sharp.
But I was just curious why some very reputable sites were using Photoshopped photos. Seems like a bad idea to me.

Other sites (GPKnives) seem to have no issue in taking their own ACCURATE product photos.
