Dragonfly protects wife against aggressive individual

Sometime ago I gave my wife a CF serrated dragonfly that she promptly threw into her handbag and forgot about.

Months later she was still carrying it about because "...it looks cute."

This morning she was sitting with our 2 year old son in the botanic gardens when this guy came along. According to my wife, he was punching his arms repeatedly into the air and shouting in a loud and aggressive manner at nobody in particular.
He saw my wife and kid sitting there and shouted at her(in chinese), "What are you looking at?"
He then proceeded to stand there, for a FEW MINUTES, just staring at her and our kid.

Then he walked off.

Well nothing happened, but anything could have happened. My wife called me and told me that the moment she saw this guy coming along, she knew there was something wrong with him, so she took out her dragonfly and was holding it closed in her palm. She said she was ready to do whatever was necessary to defend our son and herself. She said that she was so thankful that she had that dragonfly with her.

My wife is a very cool and capable individual who was working as a lawyer before she stopped to take care of our kid. I really felt proud of her today.

Now I am trying to persuade her into carrying a harpy. I showed her the spydie catalogue and she said that the SS serrated harpy "...looks cute."

Glad to hear your loved ones are safe and sound.

My wife did the same thing with the serrated Delica I gave her. She threw it into her purse and forgot about it. Occasionally I'll ask her about it just to make sure it's still in there. After a few minutes of digging, she shows it to me and throws it back into the abyss. I will be sharing your story with her in hopes that she adjusts her mindset for carrying a knife. Hopefully the next time I ask her about the Delica, she can produce it from her purse in under three minutes.

I think the CF Dragonfly is a fabulous knife. I carry one myself every single day along with something else. I use it as a moneyclip and it works great.

It would also do a great job as a slasher if it needed to. Very sharp from the factory.

I commend your wife for being open to carrying one. I wish I could get my wife to carry a knife. But, she refuses to do so..

Oh well, maybe I will show her this thread.
 
Bob, I use mine as a money clip too. A very high-tech classy looking one at that. It's become my third EDC knife. I think the size and shape make it very easy to carry.
 
Good for your wife!!!!;) BTW, How about getting her the Merlin Model. It would be a little lighter with the zytel handle.
 
Glad everything turned out ok. My wife carries a pink Ladybug and a pink Cricket every day and when she goes jogging she carries a pink Delica IWB. She is so sexy :D
