Do the newer ones come with the steel clip or are they all made with the plastic clip?

Bought one a while ago for my girlfriend and I like the knife a lot but I'd much prefer it with a steel clip.

From the 2002 catalog.. no they're FRN intergral clips. SS is of course a separate metal clip.

It all depends on what version of Dragonfly you are interested in. Like Calyth mentioned, the SS version has an SS clip while the FRN version has an integral clip. My fave is is the FRN version because of the steel (AUS-8) and because of how light it is. As far as the clip is concerned, I've never had any problem with mine bending or breaking.
The dragonfly rocks,
Matt

That was a little vague. The one I got for my gf was an FRN model with integral clip.

I was hoping that the newer ones had the SS clip instead. But they don't so I'll just have to live with the plastic clip when I get it.

Thanks for the info!!!

I thought I heard that you could send an FRN one in to Spyderco, and they would..take the integral clip off and put a SS one on instead.

But I have no idea if I really read that, or if I was imagining it  :p

Hey there. Yes, you certainly can send your FRN dragonfly in to spyderco and get a metal clip put on. I did it, I think it costs five dollars. Plus shipping and such.

It's not worth it in my opinion, unless you break the integral clip. I carried mine for five years and the integral clip never broke on me. But your choice.

Dragonfly is an awesome knife.

Good luck.

but the plastic clip gets bent outwards and it doesn't clip too securely after awhile, i don't really trust it much so i have it attached to my keys
