Ok, so...I'm perusing around the WTB forums right before I go to bed so I can cry myself to sleep again. Check out this link.

Now if that doesn't make you cry I don't know what will. I'd bet the majority of us would do just about anything for prices like these...which leads me to a question. When the 42 came out, I figured that after a while the prices on the older stuff (44, 45, etc.) would stabilize and eventually fall down a little. Needless to say, I was totally wrong. Hey, I'm not a business major, ok?!! Instead the prices surged (that wasn't exactly a pleasant suprise). I kick myself for not buying one when I had the chance...though back then I thought it was slightly irrational to pay $100-$110 for a balisong. So I payed $35 for a 239 instead. Since then, I ripped the handles off and put my own on...which I promise to post pictures of ASAP.

Anyway, just thought I'd share with those who may have forgotten "the good ole days".

Good thing i wasn't around or aware of these things during those times, so i can't blame myself for not buying.

Oh how I long for the old days...when bfk's (if you have to ask...it was our term for butterfly knives) were readily available in my hometown at decent prices.A (large)Parker Custom went for around $75 I think, and it was one of the best deals back then.Benchmade was still Balisong and was the higher priced (yet worth it)brand,if you could afford them.Valor and Frost made some decent blades back then, which were cheap enough but good for the price.Compass Industries was also a good brand (I still own one, albeit it's missing two of the brown micarta inlays, one of which I have, the other got lost before I could put it back on)and had decent prices.I was after a used one that was going for $45,but someone else got it first. He then gave it to me for teaching him how to use a full stiletto blade Balisong without chopping his fingers off.I still love the sound of the heavy brass handles ringing when they hit.
Unfortunately, for a long time,I didn't have a computer or any way to find out what was going on with balisongs.Slowly but surely,I'm getting around to see what has changed since the late '80's in price and style now that I have a way to find the info.I have a lot of catching up to do
