Here's me lookin at all sortsa neat knives and they all have either 2.88 inch blades or 3.72 or SUMPIN that requires a folded length of over FIVE INCHES.
A pocket machete!
What's wrong with 3.25-3.5 and a closed length in the FOUR inch range?

For a 3 1/2" blade and a 4" handle you have less than 1/2" inside the handle to hold the blade when open. If you have a 3/16" hole in the tang for the pivot you only leave about 1/8" or less on each side of the tang to hold. For a 3 1/2" blade I'd rather have a 4 1/2" handle.

Yes, I agree with that, some slipjoins have a shorter handle to blade length ratio, they use thinner pivots, I think Opinels do to and you can even shorten the handle if you want.

I agree I really cant stand when knife companys do that, espicially when the knife is really nice but you don't wanna buy it cause they made the handle to frickin long. :grumpy:

In some cases the handle is deliberately made longer so that customers with large hands have something to hold on to. The Emerson CQC8 is an example of that.
