All the knives I have made so far are traced from other knives. I am looking for feedback on a drawing before I put it to steel.

Thanks in advance.

I really like the overall size and shape. However, I'd prefer the corners at the butt to be rounded.

Great overall dimensions. Awesome blade to handle ratio. My only critique would be that it seems a bit thick from the end of the bolster to the beginning of the grind, but even then I feel like I'm grasping at straws. Great design!

Bob, that was the one thing I thought might improve it. Thanks.

Dishcore, could you elaborate. I'm not sure what you mean, but would like to understand.

It is a nice design, but a few questions:

-What sort of work is this knife supposed to do?

-Is this just a drawing of the blade blank without scales, or is this it?

I really like the blade shape/plunge line. The only change I would make is adding a small sharpening choil and/or a small little "nub" (sorry I don't know the actual term) at the back of the ground part.

those sharp corners on the butt may be hazardous to the user. I always recommend making a mock-up out of wood or plastic or even carboard before committing a design to steel. That way you can see how it feels and make changes if necessary.

It needs a blood groove.

J/k.

I like the design. Abalone or mother of pearl handles with the aforementioned rounded buttocks and it would look amazing.

The term is "ricasso." Strider does a great job with theirs, look at the beginning of the edge:

Chill, sorry I wasn't very clear. In the picture, where the bolster points downward (at about 4.5" on the ruler) to where the grind starts (roughly 4.75") seems to be a bit thick, but that may have been in part due to what others have pointed out, with the "choil" area. I think you've got it covered! Again, I really like the design!
