Dream Knife Request

I'd love to see the Ocelot with a ZDP189 laminated blade, anodized titanium liners, and a full-height flat grand. That would be the ultimate Spyderco, IMO. Maybe carbon fiber or bead blasted Micarta with the footprints instead of G-10, too. It's already my favorite Spyderco now.

Hi Warden,

While I would say that is probably your "dream knife" request, everyone here that's thought about it probably has their own "dream knife" request and I'd bet they're all different.

You might consider having a custom made piece. Lotsa really good custom makers out there.

So I guess that's a nice way of saying, "It ain't gonna happen.". lol. Oh, well...a boy can always dream.

Probably not likely in production. The cost would jump way up on an already expensive model. As the price goes up, the market size generally shrinks. At some point, there are not enough customers to pay fot the production run.

I would "never" say "never". Anything is possible. It really depends on you.

The entire "business chain" from; raw materials, manufacturing, marketing, selling, distributing, shipping, warrantees, insurance, credit, etc. ALL EXISTS to service the ELU (End Line User). Remove the ELU from the equation and the entire business chain falls like a house of cards. We all work for you!

warden41272, there are custom makers who can probably do what you want. You'll just need to find one. It'll likely be pretty expensive, and you'll need to find a maker who can work with the materials you wanted.

It may be easier to get yourself an Ocelot, and customize it to your liking.

Cheaper as well.

I already have an Ocelot, that's why I like this model so much. I was just daydreaming about what would make it "perfect". I was reading in some of the other threads about people suggesting things they'd like to see, so I just chimed in with my $.02 on my favorite model.

This particular combination of materials and design wouldn't be my first choice, but I stand firmly by my statement that I'll buy any kind of Ocelot that's made.* What a fantastic knife.

*As long as it has the paws.

Sal, I'd like to put two cents toward a Tabby and another two cents toward a Liger. I know that comes out to four cents but we're talking about a three-size series here!

Jess Horn with Burgundy Micarta handles and a Solid ZDP-189 blade.

Worker with Carbon Fiber handles and a BG-42 blade.

Schempp Kris with Mokume bolsters and a Stainless Damascus blade.

I would say that is more than my 2 cents worth, but a man has got to have dreams.

Hi Schmackey,

I think that Tim Wegner might have some thoughts in that direction.

Any chance we could maybe see a sprint run of ZDP189 Ocelots, maybe, since my 'dream knife' probably won't happen?

Hi Warden,

that is more possible. We'll have to wait to see reaction on the current ocelot.
