Dremel jigging experiment

I got this old Swan works sheepsfoot a few years ago, it came with smooth white bone scales that I think were replaced at some point. I dyed the scales a few years back, hated the colour, sooooo. Always wanted to try a "peach seedish" type handle. I plan on redoing the side that is done using a thicker cutting wheel to clean up the speed wobbles. I'm kind of happy with the results of the jigging and dying.

Here are the finished pics. I went over the original side with a thicker wheel. I decided to do a wider spacing on the mark side being that it was an experiment. From previous dying I knew the dye wouldn't match so why not the jigging too.:D

Best regards

Hi Jack
I think it has potential. Maybe should have waited till daylight to do the first side, my eyes aren't what they used to be ;-)))

Looks great! I would have tried a "ball" type instead of a wheel, but the wheel probably results in a cleaner groove.

I like it.....which cutting wheel did you use?

I used a diamond wheel first followed by a 1/32nd fiber wheel. I think a slightly thicker laminated wheel will work a bit better.

I have used a ball burr for other styles of jigging but a wheel seems more in keeping with a "peach seed" jig.

Nice work on that jigging!

Well done - respect :)

Thanks for sharing. I gonna have to try it as well - when I have more time and patience.

Thanks for the comments folks, it was a fun project. I just posted the finished product, a study in asymmetry.

Best regards

While the smooth bone did look good, the jigging took it up another notch, great job Robin.
I hope to do some jigging in bone on my next knife handling job, thanks for the inspiration.
