Dressed up an old 1911

Just got these new grips. Thought they looked kind of cool so why not share a pic with my friends. Not the best pic but you get the idea.

Dyed stingray skin. Now I just have to get a holster that matches.

As for being old...I've got my grandfather's 1911a1 that he used in Japan during WWII...it's THE jewel of my collection...That gun had a LOT of use in it's day.

How do they feel? I figure that stingray skin would be pretty "grippy".

Decent grip. Not at the level of machined G10 but still functionally grippy. The fact that it is skin gives it some cushion so your hand almost molds into it a bit.

It had to be quite the feat to get the skin to mold to the base scale material, I'd love to look at those in hand.
