I noticed earlier that the BF Spyderco spl ed. SpyderHawk had a polished clip & barrel bolt, so I thought "Hey, I gotta 93mm blue Rescue, lets see if it's the same clip.."

Kinda dresses the 'Hawk up nice, I believe. Less tactical, and more well, I'm not exactly sure...

any thoughts?

Hawkbill,
That looks pretty good. I'm having a native customized and it had a black clip. Maybe my rescue will trade it's clip with the native:)

Hawkbill,
That polished clip looks great on your spyderhawk. I have a Merlin and I took the black coating off with 3M's heavy duty ( the green ones ) Scotch-Brite pads. They are great for taking the coating off of a black clip. I have a Spyderhawk on the way and will do the same with it. Since so much of the blade sticks out of the handel on a hawkbill knife, a polished clip really dresses one up. I am not a big fan of the way a FRN handle looks (kinda' cheap) but a polished clip really makes a BIG dfference in the appearance of the knife.

Hi there Bear:

I like the idea of using a Scotchbrite pad to "polish" a black clip. Might just do that with my other FRN's. Thanks for the comment.

Hawkbill,
I can't take credit for the Scotch-Brite idea, I saw it on the Spyderco forum. I can tell you they work great. It only took me about 15 minutes to get all of the black coating off of the clip. I did not try to get the coating off of the bolt, I left that black. The Merlin was my first FRN handle Spyderco. All of my other ones are SS. With the polished clip, FRN knives look SO much better. BTW, the Scotch-Brite pads did not scratch up the clip.
