Dried Epoxy on blade food safe?

So when setting my scales with epoxy, there was some epoxy that got on the blade and dried that I missed. It doesn't bother me as its just a personal knife, but I am going to be using it for skinning and other things. I know epoxy is generally not food safe. Is it safe to use still for skinning and cutting? Or should I just use this one for a garage knife and count my losses. Thanks!

take a razor blade and scrape it off. I clean up whatever epoxy overruns out the top of the scales onto the ricasso of my blades with a razor blade and/or an x-acto knife. never had an issue.

What navman navman said is a great way. Or if you wanna be a little more careful not to scratch the blade, you can make a copper (brass works too) blade/scraping knife and use that.
If there’s residue after that you can use acetone and a little rubbing to remove it.

I use a little brass chisel type tool, bit of brass bar only 0.25 inch wide, filed to a single bevel edge. Harder than copper, not so hard it will scratch even not-quite-hardened-enough steel.

One needs to be careful with Vaseline for masking as it is very easy to inadvertently transfer it to somewhere you want the glue to stick. Chances are that a MS is doing hidden tangs with guards, so epoxy contamination is the problem, but not much risk of grease contamination of the tang. Full tangs pose a bit more problem where the scale meets the ricasso. For those I use brown packing tape, cut with a scalpel to trace the leading edge of the scale. I also tape the end of the scale, so I can wipe epoxy and not worry about it changing the finish on that pre-finished bit of handle.

C_C, I do the same with blue painters tape.
