Drill bits and countersinks?

Hey guys,

Did a quick search and couldn't find any specific answers so..

I was recently trying to drill out tang holes for my WIP thread steak knives. And for some reason the S30V just ate up 2 bits and I'm afraid I may have work-hardened it... I didn't quit trying until I kind of saw the end of the bit glowing and some pretty purple/blue colors around the hole *DOH*

So apart from trying to hide these broken bits from my dad :D what can you recommend I go and get for replacements? I've also been "countersinking" by using a larger drill bit to slightly cut into the existing smaller her. This is probably terrible for the bits, so I'd rather not do this again. Can anyone recommend a good countersink I should be using?

I found this set of universal carbide bits at KMS made by DIMAR.

They also have cobalt countersinks.

Would these be adequate? Or should I keep looking?

Go to KBC instead out on Annicis Island They have excellent carbide bits in every size the is including numbered bits, Frank
