Drilling and tapping a Paramilitary?

Hoping someone might be able to help me here, I wanted to replace the original Paramilitary clip with one that allows it to ride lower in the pocket.

Can anyone suggest what will be needed, I guess I am unsure if the pocket clip side liner is hardened or not, so what type of drill bits(I have normal hss bits) etc, any tips would be handy.

Thanks,

Jim

The liner is stainless steel and it is hardened but a 5/64 cobalt drill bit and a 2-56 thread forming tap should be all you need to carefully thread it. Use a good oil and take it easy in baby step turns if you are doing it by hand.

Thread the G10 as well.

HSS will probably want to dance around on you but if it does drill the hole I doubt it will be sharp enough to worry with for a second try or even much good for anything other than softer materials after that. It may only drill it part way and if you get one hole done I suspect it will be leaving you wondering how you are going to get the next one done with a super dull HSS drill. The liners are usually hard enough on the cobalt drills but one cobalt should work for two holes easy enough. The HSS drills are likely to heat up real bad also. Just FYI
