Drilling and Tapping Cast Iron?

I need to drill and tap 3/16" cast iron with a through hole for a 2-56 screw. I typically use my Skill screwdriver to tap holes in other materials but don't know if the same techniques will work on cast iron. Unfortunately, I don't have a scrap piece for trials.

Any tips will be appreciated.

Andrew,
Tapping cast iron is easy, I always make the hole a little oversize to ease the tapping. Use a #48 drill instead of the standard #50. It will be less likely to break, and use cutting flupd like tap magic. Go slow and back it off every so often to break the chips.
