Drilling detents?

I have been wanting to try de assiting some of my knives for a while now. What could I use to do this? I already have a Dremel. Is there an attachment and bit that would work? Or am I going to have to have an expensive drill press?

I would highly suggest a drill press. You can get a vertical press for the dremel, that would help with the precision but it would still be incredibly slow going. I'm sure you could do it with an abrasive attachment if you were patient enough and had coolant nearby. I doubt the dremel's capability to do plunge cuts in hardened steel with a normal drill bit.

You don't need a drill press. I did it with a dremel.

Nonpaying dealer but if you google for "1.5mm Diamond Drill Bit - 10 Pack (Made In USA)" the first result should be what I used (brand Lasco Diamond Products).

Alright, I watched it. Thank you a bunch! Just need to find a source for the end mills. And a workstation/stand for my Dremel.

I use a drill press with a 1/16 inch bit with a diamond-crusted tip designed for a Dremel. Make sure that if you use this method that you spin the drill fast and don't push down hard.

Alternatively, use the diamond bit in a Dremel.

I might be able to get a Dremel diamond bit from my local big box hardware. I will looking that next time I am in there.

KNaB, you should have an email.

Thanks for all the help.
