How does one go about drilling a haft?

I just won this interesting head on eBay and I'll be carving a haft for it. I'm not sure if it's an authentic tomahawk, but I didn't pay much for it. I never tried to drill anything this long before and I don't believe I'll be able to find an off the shelf drilled haft that will fit.
