I know this will sound like a strange question, but has anyone edc’d a drop forged boot knife. I have been eyeing this knife for a while (not sure if it’s still in production). Would like to know how it handles, especially the handle (does it allow a good grip or is it to short, slippery). Also is the sheath any good especially with retention. Thanks in advance

It's a very good knife. The handle isn't bad at 4" but a little longer would be nice. I think that it is intended as a hide out or back up so keeping the overall size down was probably a consideration when it was designed. The sheath is very secure and includes a Ulti-Clip so it stays in place when drawing the knife.

Another knife to consider is the Cold Steel Counter Tac. Similar in size with a 4.5" kraton handle and weight of only 4.6 oz. it can be worn as a neck knife.

I have one in the rotation. Sometimes the smaller size(than most of my EDC's), having a double edge and is rugged/cheap is what I am looking for to carry rather than more traditional boot knives. Easy to sharpen and I don't care if it gets thrashed unlike my other boot knives which are mostly for self protection roles. Dry hands I have no problem but I am sure any liquid/sweat etc would change that, I have seen on the forum here people doing various things to improve that. The only real downside in some circumstances is legality and other people's perception of its intended use.
This a favorite of mine(I really like push knives)and you really can get a firm grip.

,Cold Steel Drop Forged Push Knife
This sturdy Drop Forged Push Knife features razor-sharp double edges and a thick, wide, sturdy spear point. Includes Secure-Ex sheath with adjustable tension and American-made Ulti-Clip. Overall 6-3/4".
Overall Length: 6-3/4"
Blade Length: 4"
Blade Thickness: 9mm
Weight: 7.6 oz
Material: 52100 High Carbon

I have had one for a few years. I stripped it down to bare metal and hit it with some deep gun blue. I coated the handle in truck bed paint to give it grip. Works great for what it is meant to be. Takes a good edge and the sheath is actually one that CS got right, IMHO.
