DROP IT or CLIP IT? Update

I am really torn between the BK16, drop point, and the BK17, clip point. I have not yet bought my "knife of the month" for March. Since it is my Birthday month I will probably go for a set of Micarta as well.
Here is my delima, I have a 2, 14, and 24 so far. All drop points which I really like.
Are their any advantages or disadvantages to a clip point. I know everybody has opinions (lots of them I'm sure) and I'd like to hear some.

I'm not sure of the advantages or disadvantages, but why not get the 17 just to mix things up?

I agree with Tdhurl1103. If you absolutely hate the 17 after using it, I am sure you can sell it for darn close to what you paid for it and buy a 16.

I'm partial to the 17, myself. Closer to the traditional Bowie. You need something in your collection to do "polnty" things with.

I haven't used my 17 enough to say whether or not I prefer it over the 16 but since you have several FFG drop points already you may aswell change it up and get the saber ground 17...

Now that Im reading this thread, I did a bit more research. At first I thought I wanted the 16, but now I think I want the 17 for my next purchase... Since its a thinner lighter knife, you probably will be using it for smaller, finer tasks. For me, I think the clip point would do well for what I would use it for (general hiking/camping)

On the same line of thought, I would also consider the 15. I always liked the look of the bk-5 but it seems a bit too big for me, and I'd rather keep my 9 or 2 as my big splitter/chopper. The 15 would be cool to use for fine tasks as well as possibly food prep.

Unfortunately my opinion is biased because I only have the bk 17 but it is a great knife!

I have the 16... and I want the 17... I think I'll like it more - but I can't say for sure, since I don't have the 17 yet either....

If it were me, though... I'd get the 17.

Ah Screw it. Just ordered a BK15. I'm making a sheath for my ka-bar 1217 so I have the clip point covered.

Once again Tomar's came thru quickly. Watching thet tracking info, I was expecting this on monday, but when I checked it this morining it was "out for delivery"! Dan the mail man asked, when I met him at the mail box,"whatcha get now? another knife?" He knows me too well, scary well. Now its time to go to Home Depot for some quick strip.....

Nice looking addition, there. Does it come with a set of olive coloured handles as well, like the other tweeners?

It does come another set of Olive, Id say tan handles. Also in the box there was a little white envelope that I thought was spare screws that I left alone until later. When I got around to opening it up, there was a Tomars key chain. Nice surprise, Thanks Tomars, always first class.

All the tweeners (15,16,17) come with the extra peanut butter handles.

I recently got a 15 and am working on a sheath for it also. Good luck with yours.

Mine is stripped and disassembled right now. I'm thinking about etching the blade, and trying to decide what kind of wood handles I want to make for it. Then Sheath, I am going to either try my hand at tooling (at least a border) or an exotic inlay. not going to rush this project and make it really nice.
