Has anyone done a DIY drop leg attachment for your S!K sheath? I'm interested in taking on that project and was just wondering if anyone has done something like that and are willing to share some info or ideas!

I have on sheaths i made for sk. I also have one i dont use for midsize gso stock sheaths, id sell or trade.

As far as making one, i use two pieces of kydex, or 1 piece folded over, so its stiffer and not floppy. Then heat and bend it into shape using a piece of wood as a 90° template. (Sometimes hard to get all the contours just right) then i cut a piece of leather belt. (Already black, already finished edges, easy to find.) Then wet form/press it in half, that way it stays a nice bent over fold without cracking etc. Then punch holes, attach to kydex piece... Wallla.

Thanks for the pictures that looks sweet. Was trying for a diy and I might attempt the leather. If it works out I'll post on here

What do you mean by drop leg? Just something to lower the sheath on your belt or something to actually strap it to your leg?

Chiral makes and sells both and I'm sure would be a wealth of information on the subject (or just about any subject!).

I have one of Chiral's UKE's and a drop loop made by Halestorm. Both are great

Sounds like quite the process, I appreciate the info! I'll attempt what you said and see what comes from it. Will be my first kydex project. Will post when I get around to it

Yes exactly that, something to drop the sheath itself down to make it ride lower on my leg, i prefer a little lower it just feels like a more natural draw to me. But not exactly like a dangler because the whole free swinging part doesn't really sit right with me. Imagine a dangler but without the swinging motion that comes with. I'm having trouble putting what I pictured in my head into words haha

This sheath call a bikini, was made by an SK member it's designed to hold the Kydex Factory sheath. I'll be home in a few weeks and I can send you more pictures..
If you like. Thought this may help you with ideas.

This is what I offer: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...sion-UKE-2-0-leg-straps-and-ferro-rod-holders

Here is an old video, i need to update it for the new version and attachments, will try to do that this weekend and create a new sale-thread on them:

The UKE (now in version 2.0) is a 'kit' that includes the kydex extenson (made from one piece 0.125" kydex) + kydex 'bridge' and 'washers' + leather belt-loop + belt-clip + all mounting hardware. The whole thing costs just $15+shipping, though i have other accessories that can be added on, like leg-straps and ferro-rod holders.

The kit is designed to be as universal as possible, accommodating EVERY factory sheath for EVERY of Survive! model (from the necker to the GSO-10, and I'll bet it works on the 12 as well, whenever that comes to fruition), as well as most every sheath made by Azwelke, Hale Storm, Dave Brown (BuyBrown), Rainwalker, etc. etc. It also works on factory sheaths for ESEE knives, Beckers (when they aren't the cloth ones), Buck Knives (e.g. the Selkirk), Bradford, Boker, Benchmade (wow, there are more "b" knife companies than I thought!), certain Gerbers, Tops, SOG.... it works on Carothers knvies as well.
Essentially, if your sheath is designed to accommodate a tek-lok - large or small - then the UKE 2.0 will fit it. And if it isn't (e.g. the Tops BOB), there may be a simple way to make it fit.

The extension allows attachment of the included leather belt-loop and belt-clip in a couple of different ways, but also accommodates Tek-loks (large & small), Molle-loks, G-clips, etc. etc.

The design allows you to carry your knife with the handle right at your hip, below the waste, and dangler as well - it is VERY height-adjustable to allow the user to suit his/her preference at a given time. And if you think it still rides to low, you can cut it short for a more compact design.

It is also angle-adjustable so you can tilt the knife for easier cross-draw or other reasons. The belt-loop and bridge can be used without the extension to provide comfortable scout-carry.

There are a LOT of photos in the linked thread, just scroll through them to get some ideas of what you can do with this kit.

The down sides of it are: a) I only sell the exntesion in black kydex, belt-loop in black or brown leather, and b) the design has chirality, i.e. you can order right- and left-handed versions but they are not totally interchangeable.

I will work on that updated video and sale-thread this weekend and post again afterward, but feel free to e-mail or PM me with any questions. :) Everybody should have one of these, at least to try ;)

What you want is this I think. I build these using scuba webbing (very stiff - no movement or rattle) or coated seat belt webbing which is waterproof, again, very stiff - no movement or rattle.

I also build my "drop" piece out of one solid piece of 1/8" kydex (.125). And I also make the offset from two opposing 45* angles so it sits smoother on the hip.

Hope these pics help you sort it out.

Thanks Silver. Chiral's UKE is awesome. You can't go wrong there if it fits your needs.
