This is one I recently finished up in D2, stainless guard, and desert ironwood with red liners.

Comments are welcomed, suggestions requested.

Thanks,

If that blade is 3.5 to 4.5 inches I can't imagine anything I would change. That looks perfect.

Thanks. Sorry I forgot to mention the dimensions.

The blade is just over 3 1/4" and overall length is just short of 7".

Blade looks really good, but since you asked for suggestions I have to say I think that D2 stamp takes away from the look of this one. There's something about that stamp that just doesn't seem to look as professional as the rest of the blade looks. Just my opinion, and again great job on the knife itself!

Ray, opinions are what I asked for and what I wanted. I agree and have stopped stamping my blades this way. I have gone to using an etch for my makers mark but currently I am not marking the blade with the type of steel used.

Do you think the addition of a small etch designating the steel type would add to the knife or is it unnecessary?

Thanks,
SDS

Good looking knife.

I personally would rather get a certicate that listed the materials used rather than have the steel designation marked on the blade.

I think a good etching design definitely does look better, but as to whether it adds to the blade....I think that's more a preference of the buyer. In general I would try to stick with a etching design that's as professional as your knife design. I really like the way T mickley etches his knives that I have seen. Simple name on one side with the metal type on the opposite side.

For me personally I like a small makers mark that doesn't take anything away from the beauty of the blade, but I don't really need the steel type on the blade. I know it can help down the road in identification, but if I bought the knife I know what steel it is so it's not a big deal to me....I agree with Keith every custom knife should come with some sort of certificate of authenticity.

Agreed, thats the only thing that stood out when I saw that knife as not so much a flaw...but it would look cleaner without it.

I think I'll just stick with my makers mark and a certificate of some sort then.

Thanks,

I very much like that style of design, looks good, the more you make the better they will be IMO, well done

I agree also, drop point knives are one of my favorites and yours is a beauty but could do without the stamping. I think a nice makers mark adds to the beauty of a knife. Very nice knife though!!
