What's your preference and why? I am noticing a proliferation of drop points in my herd recently. All of these blades were "Gotta haves" that I fell in love with at first sight. I like the inherent sturdiness a drop point knife has, though it could be argued that well made knives will have a good tip regardless of profile. Let's see what you got and why you like your particular favorites: everybody's a winner!

I love a good drop point. I think they're just good looking. Trailing point, particularly Persian style, would be next, and clip point last. Clips just don't do it for me, except for the 17. Also that gorgeous modded BK2... Yeah, I pretty much just like knives. But if I had to choose, I'd choose a drop point.

Drop points are easily my favourite blade shape. Belly + strength +piercing ability is all around perfect for me.

They all have their place of course, what will you be using it for? For general bushcraft I like the drop point, It's got the wider spine (Bk16) without the the swedge so it doesnt eat up batons, but any will work. For a self defense type blade I like the Trailing point but any will work.

Most of my knives and all of my beckers are drop-point (bk2, 11, 14x2, and 16). I tend to abuse my knives and like the look and strength of a drop-point.

I like trailing points in the 4-8'' range. The phil wilson south fork, becker bk-5,bk-15.If you like slicing blades that cut very well they can't be beat.
Chopper's are another story though, then drop point.

I think the drop point is the most versatile so unless the knife is for a special purpose, like skinning or boning that is what I use.

Probably 95% of my knives are drop points. Have a few clip points but I don't really use them often.

I normally like dropped points but that is mostly from my time of collecting fixed blade hunting knives. I just think the dropped point looks best. For my EDC folding knives I have seen some dropped points that I like but I also like spear points. A lot of older knives use clip points and trailing points and I prefer drop points because they look more modern to me. It's just a personal preference of style to me. The few exceptions are that I like the BK5 and BK15 which could be considered trailing points, and I like the BK17 which is definitely a clipped point.

Clip points with no hesitation. 'Cause sometimes you just need something pointy.
bdmicarta likes drops because they are "modern" and says "older" knives have clips. Sometimes new is not the best. What can be more American than a bowie blade? You can't poke a decent hole with a drop, nor can you clean out under your finger nails. :D What better argument to you need???

While I like clip point blades, if it's time to do some work, drop or spear point all the way. The clip is bad ass but if you need to apply pressure on the back of the blade it can be unstable due to the curvature not to mention painful for the hand if not using some sort of tool. That being said, my bowies are not going anywhere.....

Clip point, drop point, or trailing point?

Yes.

But my favorite is clip-point. Bowie knives are my first love.

Gotta go with drop point / spear point, not sure what the difference is. Very versatile and tough.

Yes, Yes and Yes...

However my order goes: Clipped, Trailing, Drop.

I also prefer saber ground to full flat grind but that is me.

It sure is hard to pick. Aesthetically, my preference is trailing, clip and then drop points. Working with game, I generally prefer a clip. Bushcraft, drop or clip. Food prep, trailing or drop.

My edc is a clip point (17), and it can pretty much do it all.
