Please excuse my ignorance of the 112 line. Does Buck make a Drop Point in the 112?
I've had a 110 for many years, didn't use it much till lately. I like it fine, but I think I need a bit smaller knife. I think I'll get a 112, which leads me to the above question.

Unfortunately, no but if you can find an older Bucklite 442, or a Protege(don,t know the number offhand) these might be to your liking. Cabelas Jim Shockey line seems to have a drop point blade in the new Paperstone 112 size. I really like this Cabelas knife but the price tag is too much for me right now.

I don't believe that Buck ever made a "production model" 112 with a drop point blade. I have and have seen some limited editions with them though. If you like the 112 size but want a drop point, may I suggest trying to locate a 500. They are very close in size and are one of my favorites.

Here's a comparison photo showing a 112, 500 and a 532.

buck sway has a drop point 112 with an anvil on the tang:eek:
came in a box from post falls one day..
i know cause i seen him open it..;)

Yeah, I've got one also. Finger grip, stag and drop point blade, I believe it was a BCCI offering, but the odds of him finding one that's affordable is pretty slim.

I'm thinking the OP is looking for something a bit easier to find than one of the collectables we are talking about. That's why I suggested the 500, even though it's not a production knife anymore, it would be a damned sight easier to find than a drop point 112.

the one sway has is a standard nickel frame with wood and a drop point...
not the bcci offering

It handles and drives real nice too . Get one and take it for a spin . Then let us know what you think . DM

...Here's a drop point 112...( sorta...:p )...Click the thumbs a couple of times...:)

That is what you would be looking for.
Model # 0112brssp17-b
Catalog # 9736
Blade will be stamped as a 450

Is there anywhere to order one of those? Were they made special for some vendor, I've not seen them in the catalogs anywhere.

oops.. That marking would be correct. I forgot that we use 2 different types of drop style blades in that model. That blade can be used in a 450 or a 442 or a 112 We used the 442 stamped blades if we were short on 450 stamped blades. MY Bad :foot:

They are not a catalog item (I don't think they have ever been in a catalog), and it looks like all sales have gone to an international dealer. I looked and we have 0 stock, I was hoping I might have some so we could arrange something through the store for you.

Sorry and Happy Hunting :)
