So finally got my mordax today after ordering it January 4th with 3-4 delays in its shipment. Would have canceled my order if I hadn’t seen such positive reviews on the piece. It’s pretty good however there is really bad button stick. Is this common on the mordax and is there a way to alleviate it or will it work itself out in time?

I think I read somewhere that a small number of Mordax specimens have button stick because the spring binds up under the button. You can try to lube the button to clean up the cavity underneath or disassemble and clean it that way. If you’re not comfortable taking the knife apart, I’d try flushing the button first.

BLUF: make sure there's no lube in the slot where the button locks up with the blade.

I got my Mordax secondhand, but there was a good amount of button stick because there was lube on the locking notch of the blade and the button. Much like how lube on the lockface of a framelock can cause stick, it seems that was the case here. I took it apart and cleaned it all out, carefully put one drop of lube on the bearing track on each side of the blade, and it was smooth as heck when I put it back together.

Call Protech, but they said its a sign of solid lockup in a button lock with these tolerances.

When I got mine, it got really bad with the button sticking. Disassembled, wipes clean with alcohol. All was good.

I’ll try carrying it for a couple days and hopefully break it in and do a good cleaning afterwards. Other than the button stick it’s been everything I hoped.
