Bought my first CRK Sebenza last week. Like all of you Im sure, I blistered my hand opening and closing this thing for the first five days.
As luck would have it I droped it on my ceramic floor last night and broke off about 1/8th of the tip. Gut check!!, was planning on sending it back to CRK's to reprofile or change the blade. Anyone had a similar experience?

If it was a 100 buck benchmade, id just hit it on the belt sander. But a sebenza?, I'm curious what they will do.

Welcome to Bladeforums Ja Baudin!

$135.00 IIRC to replace a blade.

1/8 inch is not trivial, but it could be fixed. I'd just fix it...even if you REALLY botch it, you could have the blade replaced.

Honestly though, I'd just fix it and enjoy the stouter tip that will result.

Just fix it to your liking. You won't be the only out there with a Sebenza snub-nose!

Yes, I dropprd my Sebenza last month and broke off a bit of the tip also. I took pictures of the damage and sent an email to CRK. A few days later they replied they can fix it for free, but I suppose it depends on the extent of the damage. I paid for shipping only but that came to about $70 USD both ways since I live overseas. Good luck.

I have dropped my small Sebenza Classic MM more times then I can remember. The last time I dropped it, it landed point first on the concrete floor in my garage. It chipped the concrete. No damage to the blade. It has a BG42 blade if that makes any difference.

Welcome to BFC,
Fix it yourself, use it and replace the blade whenever. It won't hurt as much if you get it broke in first and then decide to get a new blade.
Where abouts in La. Do you stay at????
I'm in Southwest La.

Ouch! I would give fixing it a shot, if you mess up then you can send it in for replacement and you got some practice:thumbup:

If you decide to try and fix it yourself and need to remove a lot of metal, I'd HIGHLY recommend doing it by hand (sandpaper, etc...) instead of a grinder or other powered device.

I think they are better a little beat up... The resale value stops whispering in your ear overtime you might use it rough if you know you value it more than you could sell it for. Once a Sebenza becomes a user, it is truly the greatest pocketknife ever - nothing magical or super fancy, just the very best user.

Also, post pictures of how your new tip looks and what you come up with! :)

Reprofile came out great, sorry no pics having trouble figuring out that part. Glad I didn't send it off, the knife will be used and carried every day. Just needed to get that first ding on it to break it in.

Thanks again guys
