I have one, with the separate can/bottle openers, awl, and small blade, and would like to make it like the older version with the combo tool in place of the small blade, and no layer for the two openers and awl. Can I do this on my own without wrecking things, or who can do this in the US for a reasonable price on a $30 knife?

I don't know you well enough to say what you can and can't do yourself. ;) But recently there have been a large number of posts about a Bladeforums member called Scibeer. Here's a link to his homepage: http://e-webtechnologies.com/knifemods/

He modified a Farmer for me and I'm really pleased with it:

I don't think you can get a new Yoeman in the older style for $30, but I bought two from forum member SwissBianco for about $45@ including shipping -- he has had some specially made for him by Victorinox. Both his runs to date have sold out but he or others may have some floating around with which you can part.

+1 on Scribeer's skills with modding, but again, I don't know if $30 would cover it.

Here's a photo of the Yeoman that I got from SwissBianco. It's definitely one of my favorite Swiss army knives.

I had already asked on KF about the yeoman, sold out before I had even registered. I quit watching the one that was on ebay when it hit $67

if I get one modded, I was also thinking about having the led light replace the magnifier.
