Drunk Grinding Accident Has A Happy Ending

So about a year and a half ago I decided to make my BK2 look more like my FFG 16 after about 3/4 of a bottle of tequila. Hit it with a bench grinder and then tried to hand file out all the grooves. I royally f&%!ed it up. It sat in my drawer forever until I finally decided to bring it by a shop and see what they could do.

Polish is so high it looks almost invisible:

I have a few more things in store for this knife. Not sure yet how much I like the high polish on a Becker yet but the full convex profile from the spine to edge is killer. It's gonna be a heavy user so eventually it'll get a patina. Also this knife is razor sharp! All in all I'm happy that my old faithful BK2 has been brought back to life. This was my first becker and it started my interest in knives.

Happy endings are always a good thing.
Oh, and the knife looks great! :D

Wow that shop really did a fantastic job especially considering what they started with! :)

Always try to think positive about such things. That's not an accident, it's an opportunity for an upgrade in design plans.

I hope you brought donuts and/or beer, too :D (incidentally, alcohol is for after you're done using power tools, not before you start. ;) )

Drunk grinding.....I was expecting there to be blood......

It really did come out to be pretty awesome. Shiny as heck, and I bet it slices a lot better. Take it out and get it dirty! Let's see how she does in the wild now that she went on a diet.

Very nice... Would like to see a regular side shot of it.

Yep. I always seemed to have some of my best ideas drunk. That's one of the reasons why I quit ;)

That very well could have been a possibility if I hadn't dulled the knife so much tying to make it better :D I'd advice you kids to learn from my lesson. I love this new version of my 2 but still kind miss how it was before. I had a rocking patina on that badboy.

It does slice very nice. Cut a tomato with it this morning. Think it might camp in my kitchen a bit to get a patina back on it. Gonna wail on it soon. Curious to see how it batons.

Is this the same shop that did your convexing? That's some really nice work, there. They sure saved that one!
