I have the itch for a new piece of infi and am trying to decide between a DSF, BJ and SJ they were all made before my debut into the busse club. They all look very similar and look to be good all around blades. Which one is your pick of the three for an all around user blade? Thanks for the help

Me personally I like the Original Satin Jack.
Has squared off corners and the rope pattern scales

the DSSF is quite a bit larger

The Boss Jack is nice but on a knife that size I like square corners.

I have all three though :) for "sheath making"

Are the Boss Jack and Satin Jack pretty similar in size David? Thanks for the input BTW

Yep pretty much.

The original Satin Jack's have become collectible though and are probably going for twice the price of the boss jack though, so the Boss jack would be a great economical choice.

Choilless BOSSJACK. I've got one inbound. Blades under 8" are better without a choil IMHO. All the Choil does is get snagged on stuff, like if you're cutting netting or bags of onions, etc.

The DSF is significantly bigger than the others, of those three it would be the DS(S)F, Satin Jack and Boss Jack (with a choil please) in that order.

I'm gonna say DSF.

I would have to say that I believe the DSF to be the best all around choice of those three, just on the size alone. That being said, the other two will work well also though not quite as well to my thinking. A full convex grind on the DSF would only make it better for me also…. :)

I'm leaning towards the DSSF...I have seen it referenced with one and two Ss any difference?

Desert Storm Fighter and Desert Storm Stealth Fighter, the later was the all black version ... ;)

I considered a basic 8 for that reason but I'm not sure if it will fit a spec ops sheath

Well, let me say this- ResC is by FAR the best handle for a knife that is going to be used. YMMV

I would think it would fit the large model, though I haven't seen anybody verifying this.

And I'm not 100% sold on res c

I actually like the stuff if only for the reason of it needs a hidden tang, which typically equals less steel in the handle compared to a full tang handle. Helps with mass distribution which allows for better handling/performance characteristics.

I have no experience with the DSSF. The SJ & BJ are pretty similar in overall size; I like both of them.

Here is some more info on the SJ and BJ:
- The SJ CG was available in 2 thicknesses, originally .25" and later .188".
- The BJ CG is .22" thick, while the BJ LE is .180".

Here are some quotes from the Busse web site on the BJ:
"The BOSS Jack Combat grades are .220" thick with a Full Height Convex ground bevel. This is a much flatter convex bevel than found on previously released BOSS Jacks."
"The Limited Editions are .180" (Less than 3/16" thick) with a flat sabre grind ... "

If I remember correctly the BJ protos are also .22" thick.
