I've never handled a TGLB, but can give you feedback as to why I'm selling the DSF (the one that I'm shipping to you tommorow ). It's a clean design, and has a rounded spine which I like, but I purchased it knowing that I'd either keep the DSF OR my SARGE. The handle on the SARGE fits my hands better (it's slightly wider), so even though I like the DSF (especially after seeing the strip jobs others have done to it), I can really only keep one, and I'm happier with the SARGE. I know this doesn't answer your TGLB vs DSF question, but I thought that you would appreciate some input on the knife that you're about to receive.
I've had two sarge 7 and they are good knives I've also had a sar 8 wish I never sold it but to me the sar 8 was just a better knife which is why im gonna check the dssf out with its 8 inch blade it might feel similar to the Sar 8.
Personally, I think the DSF is slightly more versatile...it does everything and can even be a thrower... I love the DSF just a bit more than the TG (also great).
I really don't think there is a wrong way to go either way. Both are great all purpose blades. I would not feel under equipped with either one. If you want my personal opinion I like the fuller handle of the TG slightly more. Just fills my larger hand better.
The DSF is what you get when you strip away everything extra from a knife down to the bare essentials; no bells or whistles, just a pure and simple knife.
