Just curious if any of you have put both of these through their paces and have come out with opinions on their performance, comparatively speaking. I have a Double Talon which I absolutely adore but that BG FBM keeps calling to me. Blade lengths sre similar but for some reason th FBM design looks like it would be a lot more choppy. Thoughts?

I haven't used my FBM yet, (winter + nagging injury,) but here's a couple thoughts:

The DTBM isn't small by any means, but the FBM is a meaningful step up (and would expect it to be in chopping). I'd say the FBM is a good 3-4oz heavier than an unmodified DTBM. Pretty much every dimension on the FBM: blade length, width, overall length, grip area, choil size, weight; is larger except the blade stock, ~0.25" vs. ~0.26", coated.

The fusion handle feels a bit large in my average-sized mitts. I could probably hand sand the micarta and improve the grip feel to suit, but the DTBM and Ergo 2 handles set the bar really high, (of course, subjectively) and the fusion just may not be my favorite. I really should use it before I say that, but I have held it a bunch.:)

How's the thickness behind the edge on your BG FBM? I've heard some mention that the DTBM was a bit thicker than they'd like. I didn't really think mine was too thick, but after getting an ASH2 I really do like the thinner grind that it wears.

BG FBM ~0.048-0.05"
My DTBM stock ~0.06"

I got a little spoiled by the 1111 and 1311, which are both closer to 0.035" for whatever reason. They're all superb blades though, I know they're meant to be bombproof and they're all drop-dead gorgeous.

Thanks. I appreciate it.

Just ordered. Black with black canvas. Curious to see if this one being a regular offering will ding a bit sooner than an O2W offering.

FBM = less pink bite for "Hell Boy Hands" Brown

Wooohooo! Got charged for my BG FBM just six days after placing the order. Never got an email notification but that cut a few days off of the post ding anticipation, so it's all good.
