Just caught the season finale of Dual Survivalist on Discovery and the guys were given an ESEE Lite Machete for their last senario. The work they did on the show with it was pretty amazing. Just shows you just how a machete is the ultimate survival blade. I dont want to give anything away but out of the entire season the didnt use any other blade to the extent of the Lite Machete. Enjoy!

I saw them too :) They gave the blades a real workout!

I realized I was hooked to this forum once I saw that insignia and knew what it was...

I was pretty impressed on how sturdy it looked and how well it was chopping, since it truly is "lite" compared to a lot of the other machetes. Seeing them use it made me realize I probably could have good use for a machete. For a lot of the tasks, I'd rather have my wetterlings. but other tasks, the machete is much more preferable compared to a hatchet or a big chopper knife.

I was thinking about going with one of the ontario machetes, but that esee looked pretty good...

I think in the jungle, it is definitely the ultimate survival tool, but I might go with a good hard work chopper in other environments ...

It is thinner than the Ontario machetes but it's the standard, typical thickness of most south american machete brands. Same thickness as all the other Imacasa offerings and the same as my Tramontinas.

I did notice it has a bit more flex than the Trams I'm used to, don't know if thats a function of the hardness or the length (most of mine are 14" or 16").

I noticed the machete also last night. When they first showed it I wasn't sure then I saw the ESEE symbol on the side. I was very impressed with how hard they worked the blade. Now I have to add it to my list.

I thought the people on the forum would notice it, I know I did. I verfied it by doing the TIVO slow mo to see the ESEE logo. That was fun to watch. They did give it a workout and it was up to every task. I am glad to own one (and I doubt I will need and use it the way they did). If fact it got so much use I wondered it they each had one.

I've noticed that, too.:)

Doesn't harm its functionality. I've cleaned out all the brush on the south 40 with it and only had to file the edge back into shape once.

My lite is thinner than my condor el Salvador. I like it because it feels much lighter and is snapper in the hand. If I want more power i go Viking. I'd LOVE an esee Viking. I don't care what it costs.

There are two different El Salvadors from Condor (even more technically). A 1075 Carbon Steel and a 420HC Stainless. I have the 23" Condor El Salvador in 420HC it is 2mm thick (I think this is a miss print...I believe it is 2.2mm..I will put a caliper on it), it weights 1.23 lbs. The Carbon Steel version is 3mm thick in 23" and weights 1.3lbs. The ESEE is 23" and 1.6mm thick (roughly) and weights 17oz the blade is made by Imacasa. It will go in deeper but it will also get stuck easier. Condors ECO-SURVIVOR EL SALVADOR machete is there thinnest in an El Salvador style machete meant to be light. And it is 1.98mm...weights under a pound!. I like machetes!!! I need to try the ESEE, I believe the handle is the major difference. I love Micarta...even though Condor does make an El Salvador with a micarta handle it is extremely hard to find. Building a shelter with a machete takes little time... I love it! Plus snakes...other critters are no match!

I watched this episode over the weekend, when did you guys see the ESEE logo? I never a saw shot that was both close enough and long enough to see it.

Thanks,

Al

We all watched it over Jeff's house on the ESEE jumbotron!

The logo was the size of a hubcap on that thing, couldn't miss it.

I watched it on YT. The design looked familiar, and when i saw the round logo it had to be ESEE. Never seen another machete with a round logo like that, and only 2 that i have seen with a handle like that is ESEE and Pathfinder, but then again Pathfinder was made by ESEE for Dave IIRC

That machete definitely got some screen time indeed. Nice episode, and they built a %^$&# canoe with a machete. A %^&$ canoe :D
