Hello Everyone,
I just got pics back from Jim Cooper of the most recent sword I have made. I call it the River Jian. The pattern is the reason for the name, plus the short sword is always a favorite weapon on big boats.
Blade 21.5"
Handle 12"
I will have to get the weight and balance info when I get the sword back from Jim.

Here is the pic.

It is also for sale.

take care

WOW! Definitely one of my favorites that I've seen lately. Not just of yours, just period. Love it. Did you make the fittings also?

Thank you.
No, I could never make fittings like that. Charles Wu made them. He is outstanding. His work always leaves me in a bit of awe.

thanks again,
kc

thanks Professor Jack.
by the way, you are the only other Prof I have encountered on bladeforums. The nickname for me goes all the way back to a nerdy childhood and Gilligan's Island re-runs. But, it is actually what I do, too.

Some day, retirement. Ah, sweet retirement, and then it is swords full time!

Swords full-time, now you're talkin'! :D What better way to mold young minds than introducing them to an array of historical swords, right?

Thanks Mecha and Ed.
I work as a bladesmith during the summer, during Spring Break (which is this coming week - another pweld jian with Charles), and on weekends when I can.

I am a state employee. So, I am riding the Civil Service horse until I retire (and for quite a few years after I retire, too!). The flip side is that I am not a wealthy man compared to my colleagues. But, I get a good bit of time to pursue my own research and my second job - bladesmithing!

thanks Professor Jack.

You will find that you are, by far, the more popular professor XD
I am slowly, slowly working my way towards a teaching position in history.

Checking out your site, I love your style. I'll have to put aside cash to get something off you someday
