Here are some pics we took at the ball (we were fortunate to get some tickets at the last minute). We were at the front of the crowd, and I took these pics with NO telephoto. We were that close. Marya got a wink from dubya (if it'd been "another" president, I would have been worried), and I got a personal thumbs up. Quite a motivating evening.

Great Photos Craig! Very attractive wife. How was the food? I spent the weekend in the woods eating MREs. No dress uniform for me but I did have a Jungle Fighter Khukuri secured to my LBE pistol belt. Oh well, the bottom line is that we now have a Commander in Chief that I trust. Cheers!
 
It appears that our young friend may be more than he appears. I have not had an invite since Reagan.

I wouldn`t have gone, but I`m miffed anyway.

Where is your sabre? I like yours better than mine.

We used to wear one with Dress Blues and Tennis shoes/ with a light coat of oil.

Marya and I got there early and planted ourselves at the front of the stage. We waited four hours in our spot to pay homage to our new man. As he was walking off the stage, I yelled, "You make us proud." He looked me in the eye, gave me a smile, and one of those "dubya" thumbs up gestures. Then my wife said "You earned it." Bush winked at her! It was just so much fun to see him up close.

Other than that, we danced a bit, and I talked with a bunch of former Marines who came up to me for a chat. Even talked to a Distinguished Service Cross (I think that's the name - the Army award second to the CMH) winner - very motivating.

Saber? Over my fireplace. I would have worn it, but I don't think Secret Service would have let me through the metal detector.

I do not have one, but the DSC is like your Navy Cross.

Some had the guts to earn them.
