I still use the first fancy Buck knife I ever bought. .It's the 2007 elk horn 111 BCCI club knife. It has the mirror polished blade with the gold BCCI club logo with my life membership number engraved on the back of the blade. I caught a lot of grief from my brother when I cutoff the flap on the sheith to make a open top so I could put it in and out easy. You just ruined a collectable sheith, the gold etch will get scratched up ect ect. .But you know I have enjoyed that Buck more than many others I've had and it's still looking pretty good. I don't abuse it and I don't carry it every day but I'm not afraid to use it for common every day knife chores. My rare 112's I display for the most part are never used but a few of the fancy one's see limited carry time. Brother Dave gave me my first 112 a NS Damascus with ivory slabs he scrimshawed that I would wear sometimes when I played a bigger gig (harp player ) and I have always liked to carry and use a nice one since. I call it Dress up carry. I blame my wife as she watched me fondle a buffalo horn chip flint 112 one day and after I told her I was going to put it away she asked me who I saving it for? So do any of my fellow Buck nuts here fight that urge to actually use one of your fancy Bucks or have you given in like I have for DUC..

I do. I have some of the Club Limited Edition knives that I will carry and use at times. A drop point with S30V blade offered in 2004. My wife did scrimshaw work on a nickel frame 112 with stone washed S30V blade and cow bone handles. A one of a kind and I carry that one to a shin-dig at times. There are 2-3 others that are rare that I'll carry just because I like them. People I see here don't know any difference. It's only my friends on the Buck Forum that would give me a look of askance if they saw me carrying something like that. DM

I have a couple that I want to use but keep talking myself out of it. My early Palm Skinner is begging to go hunting, but I keep talking myself out of it. There are better knives for hunting and I just couldn't forgive myself if something happened to it.

This little guy is probably the fanciest knife I have. I carry it every once in a while, but it's almost always more convenient to throw a 303 in my pocket.

I was looking way back in old thread's David researching 112's and remember seeing that one, nice! One of the reasons I carry a particular knife at times is the memories associated with it. One of the first times I went to Atlanta I remember folks asking Dave Yellowhorse what he had in his pocket cause you just know that he had something really, really nice in his. MT that IS nice! Since I'm known to always have a knife with me (I got my pants on) band members will ask to borrow one and I had just gotten my 301 BG42 club knife and reluctantly passed it to our drummer. ...I solved that problem by gifting each a 286 from the Web special. .

Wow. I don't have anything near on that level from Buck, but this thread is a fun reminder of the gorgeous pieces they put out that pass right under my radar.

You have to really look for them but there out there if you want one. A good reason to join the BCCI is you can get in on the club knives and all the info and resources on the website. Some of the nicest are done by forum members too...Think of Stumps for example. Some of the best custom Bucks I've seen are his. I don't know where he gets some of the spectacular woods he finds for his projects but they are equal to the best Buck has made in-house.

Every knife I purchase I intend to use. That being said I have a couple really nice 110s that I payed well for that I also refer to as my "dress up knives" or "Sunday knives". I will still put them through the paces but I use a little extra care perhaps.

The only time I dress up is for a wedding or a funeral. I do have a knife I carry to every wedding and a knife I carry to every funeral. So I guess, those are my DUC's:confused::confused::D

They are both 532's.......

Here is the wedding knife

Here is the funeral knife

Here is a few pictures of both together, who doesn't like a few 532 pics:D:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Both have seen minimal use but have been called upon more often than you would think and they always get the job done, with a little more flair than most EDC's, so I guess they are my DUC's;)

The bolster on the MOP is turquoise of some kind? The 532 really works well with it. I'll bolo for one like that for sure!

Not as pretty as those posted above but IMHO carbon fiber can be pretty dressy too

i got nothing that nice from buck. i carry a boker fellow in white bone.

as for cut cutting off the flap, so be it. a knife is always better used and carried than sitting in a safe or drawer. the things i appreciated my grandfathers gave me were things they used everyday not stuff sitting in storage. cause the attachment to me was memories of them using it around me. not just cause they owned it and stored it. in fairness same can apply to a nice collection unused where i would have memories of watching or helping maintain the collection. im way off topic though and for that i apologize.

very nice knives all. thanks for sharing with us.
