Duck Hunting and Woodstime.

I am heading up to northern New York with my brother for some much needed woods time and duck hunting.

We typically bring my camper and hunt with about 8 guys but this year is different. People couldn't make the annual trip for various reasons, so it it just me and my brother left this year.

We decided to do it a little different and actually camp out and duck hunt for 3 days.

I am leaving tonight and will be home on Monday. Everyone have a great holiday weekend.

I hope to bring back pictures of some beautiful wood ducks and maybe even a pintail or two.

I will also try my best to take a few pictures of camp life while I am there.

KGD, I will be on the look out for more tinder fungus while I am out and about.

Take care all.

A walk along the crik...sometimes pops a woodie or two.

Not the same experience you will have...have fun, be safe.

My best friend (since 1st grade) and I head out opening day on Oct 17th here.

Something about duck hunting many others don't understand. I think you have to do it with a good friend or brother to "get it"

B safe

Carl-

Sounds like a good trip. Pardon me if I betray my ignorance, having never hunted duck, but will you guys be cooking any duck over the camp-fire? Do people do that?
Also, I think you should remember a pic of your gun/knife combo, so we can live vicariously through you... :)

Carl, I couldn't agree more. I have hunted most game in the NE, but there is something magical about waterfowling to me. It is really my one passion when it comes to hunting.

I will assure you that if we take any ducks they will be cooked over the campfire, it was actually one of the pictures I hope to post upon my return.

Good luck on the ducks paul. That sounds like an amazing time. Keep your feet dry! I dumped a canoe this time of your in Sudbury, Ont. while getting set for duck hunting. Never been so cold in my life. Worst part was having to go under and retrieve the guns. We dumped in about 7 feet of water so it was so a stretch to get to the bottom. But when we got the guns we packed off and went to the cabin. Cranked up the space heaters and sat by the fires. Never new if I'd ever feel me feet again. Eventually I did :D Again best of luck. I agree. The speed at which those ducks fly through gets the adrenoline cranking like nothing other!

I grew up a river rat in the marshes of northern cal. and then moved to the mountains in my teens. Hunted ducks from the age of 9. It was a passion of my fathers that was passed down to me and my brothers. I love the woods, camping and hunting big game. But if I could only do one outdoor activity, it would still be duck hunting. There is something magical about a cold winter day, hunkered down in a blind over a spread of decoys with two of your best friends (one of which has four legs) and full thermos of coffee.

I'll be listening for you shooting when I'm out there banging away on Saturday morning!

Keep that gun swinging....

Sounds like a great time man. Take lots of pics. There is nothing like spending time with brothers.
