Well the weatherman called for rain this morning and I really did not feel like hunting for deer or pheasants in the rain. Hunting for ducks in the rain however is somehow totally acceptable. Just after first light two drake Wood Ducks cupped and started to land in our spread. I bagged mine with one shot and my buddy......well lets say he scared his real bad three times. Nothing else came into the spread that morning and I could only hunt for a few hours due to my daughter's soccer game. That was okay though because it was my first ever Wood Duck!!

So now that I have this bird in the bag how should I cut it up? Should I use my favorite blade the Anorexic Basic 4?

Somehow it seems just a little big, just not quite perfect for this task. What's that you say? Look in my shell bag? Well okay....

Well lookee there if it is not the finest, slicenest, knife that ever came out of Wauseon and the Bussekin factory. That's right the ScrapMax would be perfect for this task. Another pose just because..

And yes it worked perfectly.

Great pics! I love the scrap Max models. They've redefined the kind of performance you can get in a production fixed blade.

I think they are much nicer looking when they are swimming and flying by instead of being dead.
But I do understand hunting, might feel different if I didn't raise Birds.

Nice Brother, funny seeing you in camo instead of yellow & black running trough security! Nice bird, I hope to get in the woods shortly
Myself.

LOL! I was thinking the same thing as I looked at that pic. :D

Cool pics! I've never duck hunted, but I'm sure it's fun. Deer, coyotes, squirrels, etc for me.
My son is looking forward to fullfilling his promise to Dan to get some deer blood on my wife's scrapmax.

Nice woodie, we don't open till the day after thanksgiving. I can't wait to post up some pics of some green heads and fiddlebacks

Way to go J!:)

My first duck ever was a woodie:cool:

I think it's the purdiest duck of all so he's on the wall:thumbup:

Great looking Woody for sure. Agree with T, I think the Woodies are my favorite as far as ducks go. Beautiful duck!!!

Could we get some details about that sheath please? Who made it, and what kind of carry option is that? How do you like the kydex with the Res-C handles? Thanks in advance!

PS - Great pics! Congrats on the Woody! :D

ETA: Duh! Just realized I'm looking at two different sheaths. The question I had wrt carry option is on the Basic 4 sheath.

Nice Jerry, I agree with not wanting to hunt pheasant or deer in the rain....ducks and geese are more acceptable...they are wet anyway right?? :)

I too have a scrap max include in the game prep knives!

The woody looks great... Glad you got out to enjoy some hunting brother!
