Duck/Turkey Hunting Knife?

I don't know anything about hunting. Want to send a knife to a buddy of mine who's been hunting ducks and turkeys... in part out of generosity and in part to get him to take me.

The choices:
Breeden 3.75" blade
David Farmer Perky
Landi PSK

Any insight into which would be best? Are they all too big/wide?

Thanks!

Out of the ones you have listed, I have delt with Bryan Breeden a few times,
He is an outstanding Guy & will help you find which knife would work for you.
So I say Breeden

Thanks Coaldigger,
To be clear, these are knives I own, so that's what the choice is limited to.
Agreed re: Breeden being good guy and knives good stuff.

All three would be excellent!

My guess is for duck, the farmer might have the edge a bit as his knives are usually caper shaped and that works well for birds (think bird in and trout knife). Again all three would work very well.

Never did duck hunt. I do hunt Wild Turkeys.

Personally I like a thin blade. Less than 1" in height. I hate pluckin birds so I prefer to dress 'em out. 2" to 3" is enough blade.

Of the three mentioned I'd get the Landi PSK unless Breeden can make you one of his KAT knives with a blade between 2.5" and 3" and thin it out to about 3/4" to 7/8" height.

I use a Bark River Woodland which is about 2-7/8" X 7/8".

HTH,

I've never hunted turkey, but for ducks I also like a thin, short blade. I've always used the Cold Steel bird & trout knife, but for a special gift you probably want something nicer. I'll bet the makers that you mentioned could come up with something or check out the BRKT mini bird & trout.

If a thin sharp blade is what is needed for BIRDS, the I would go David Farmer Perky! Hard to beat that blade in cutting chores, and it rymes with Turkey!

That would be my choice too. It is a lot like the necker I got from him recently. It has very thin blade and is perfect for field dressing. I have turkey hunted for 20 years and I'm sure it would work perfectly.
